The Campus Nurse supports the development, education, health and wellbeing of Keysborough SC students and their families. The Campus Nurse promotes the optimal health, wellbeing and development of students, and includes a focus on health monitoring, health promotion, education and counselling, and the provision of primary health care to students. The Campus Nurse also makes early identification, and intervention for students and families at risk.
The Campus Nurse works collaboratively with other members of the school's education and health and wellbeing teams and may also make referrals to other health practitioners to support the health and wellbeing needs of students. The Campus Nurse is an integral part of the school community. In promoting optimal student health, wellbeing and development, the Campus Nurse plays a vital role in enabling students to meet their full educational potential, by promoting child and adolescent health and wellbeing and assisting in early identification of students with potential health-related learning difficulties.
The Campus Nurse practices in accordance with the legal, ethical and professional framework set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
The Campus Nurse provides primary health care, education and support for all students. This includes:
first aid provision within the Campushealth promotion and primary health prevention programs within the Campusarranging first aid training courses (using external providers) for staff and maintaining staff first aid training log/dataassisting the Compliance Officer to develop Campus and College health related policies when requiredResponsibilitiesCoordinate the day-to-day operations of the Campus Health CentreContribute to quality improvement activities to improve the health outcomes for studentsCoordinate the professional development activities with the school which relate to first aid, health and wellbeingAssist in developing policies and procedures relating to first aid, health and wellbeingDemonstrate high levels of autonomous nursing practice and expertise in school nursingUndertake the activities and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Range 4Within the Health Facility: Provide primary nursing care to sick and injured students, staff and visitors and carry out general nursing procedures as requiredAttend to students, staff and others who are in need of treatment for illness or injuryAdminister medication to students as required and record accurately as per Department of Education Victoria requirementsActively promote primary health care within the education curriculumMake nursing interventions which promote optimal student health in the following areas:alcohol and other drugssafe environmentsmental health and wellbeingsexual health and wellbeingphysical health and wellbeinghealthy eating and wellbeingOrder medical supplies and keep an inventory of equipment and first aid supplies, liaising with suppliers when necessaryMaintain up-to-date notices, concerning Department health requirements (e.g. notifiable diseases, exclusion periods)Report to relevant Principal Class Team, Staff Leadership and Teaching Staff, any matters of concern regarding the wellbeing of studentsProvide assistance to staff with the ongoing management of health-related issues in a working capacityMaintain up-to-date student medical records and distribute to relevant staffEnsure parents/guardians are contacted if and when necessaryCommunicate with parents/guardians to ensure that student medical information is correct and up to dateEnsure supplies are maintained at all times, including replenishing first aid kits, checking materials and equipment to ensure safe for useSupport staff for programs including camps and excursions where medication and/or first aid supplies are requiredEnsure the first aid clinic is clean, well organised and maintained in accordance to OH&S StandardsEnsure anaphylaxis, asthma, allergy, diabetes documentation and medications are up to date at all timesMaintain necessary student medical records and incident forms, entering necessary data into databases (i.e. Cases21/Compass)Maintain confidentiality at all times.Additional Duties: Implement emergency management procedures when necessaryContribute to development of school policies where applicableCarry out other duties that may be deemed necessary to perform as part of the roleCoordinate Campus professional development sessions (with external providers if applicable) including but not limited to anaphylaxis, asthma and other Department mandated professional developmentUndertake additional duties as directed by the Principal Class Team and/or Business Manager.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

The Campus Nurse role is part time (0.8) from 8:50am - 3:26pm daily from Monday - Friday. The college is willing to negotiate a fulltime time fraction for the right applicant. Applicants must be currently qualified in Nursing and Level 2 first aid, and hold a current Working With Children Check Victoria registration. Personal Leave and Annual Leave accrues pro rata. Annual Leave is applied for each term break (2 week) period and across the Christmas/New Year (5.5 week) period. Remuneration is in line with the VGSA2022 Education Support Class Salaries, Range 1, Level 4 commencing at $92,342 per annum* (*fulltime equivalent). Both campuses offer programs for students in years 7-12 with an organisational structure arranged around Junior and Senior sub-schools.
Enrolments in the College stand at around 2300 and are growing. The College provides a broad range of VCE, VCE-VM and VET subjects for our students across the two campuses. The College also has a significant International Students Program with its own ELC.
Student achievement and engagement is generally above Like School groups and retention is high. Our student population is culturally and linguistically diverse and characterised by families of high SFOE as a result of which the college attracts significant Equity Funding. General Satisfaction with the College, as measured by the Parent Opinion Survey, is consistently high and in 2024 was 86%.

Keysborough Secondary College has undergone an extensive renewal program with the construction of two Junior Village neighbourhoods, a Senior Village neighbourhood, and a purpose-built STEM Centre on each Campus. Construction or refurbishment of a Food Technology, The Arts and Technology Centre on each campus has also been completed. The final stage has been completed for the new Administration Centre on the Banksia Campus and the refurbishment of the Music area at the Acacia Campus.
