Job Type: Long Term ContractFederal GovernmentSecurity ClearanceLocation: Canberra & Brisbane Job Overview: Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Provide expert best practice technical advice to stakeholders.Manage the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers.Develop plans for backups and disaster recovery and execute those plans when necessary.Provide broad technical support for project build, test and solution deployment activities.Manage the administration of database solutions, backup and disaster recovery, platform stability, problem management and root cause analysis.Assist with developing staff capability through knowledge transfer as the subject matter expert and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.Prepare, update and review a range of team technical standard operating procedure documentation.The one-page pitch should demonstrate how the contractor's experience and skills address the criteria, focusing on how their background aligns with the key duties, responsibilities and technical skills in the job details. They should prioritise the most important aspects of their experience and skills that align with the RFQ requirements. Requirements: Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Contributes to the planning and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and updates. Implements agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines. Uses infrastructure management tools to determine load and performance statistics. Configures tools and/or creates scripts to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure.Takes responsibility for installation and/or decommissioning projects. Provides effective team leadership, including information flow to and from the customer during project work. Develops and implements quality plans and method statements. Monitors the effectiveness of installations and ensures that appropriate recommendations for change are made.Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs. Technical Skills: Hadoop experience (HDFS, NiFi, Kafka, Ozone etc).RHEL 7/8 experience.Programming languages (Python, Ansible, Bash, Spark).Postgres DB experience, including replication and streaming.OpenStack experience.Preparation and deployment of vendor patches. Additional Information: Due to the nature of this role, this job is open to Australian Citizens only. Candidates must have Baseline, NV1/NV2 Security Clearance.
