Management (Community Services & Development)Applications for a Finance Manager will also be considered.Base annual salary + super + four weeks annual leaveWe are seeking a well-qualified, experienced and collaborative team player for this vital role within our Senior Leadership team.OverviewThe Business Manager reports to the Principal and is a highly visible, senior leadership position in the school. The Business Manager is responsible for a high standard of financial management, administration, communication, and school operations in a busy work environment. The BM will lead the finance team to support effective finance service delivery to internal and external school stakeholders to ensure long-term financial viability and sustainability of operations. The BM will also lead the facilities, IT, communications, and administration managers. The Business Manager will work closely with the School Board's finance and operations committees and provide regular reports to the Board. They will also work closely with the Principal and Principal's Executive Assistant.Key FunctionsOversee and manage the financial and operational affairs of the School.Ensure the school is compliant with legislative, funding, and registration requirements.Support the Board with policy and governance activities.Coordinate all relevant grant applications and approval processes to secure available sources of funding for the School.Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the School's strategic business planning activities.Lead and manage a small, internal finance team to:prepare and manage annual and projected budgets;prepare the supporting documentation for financial audit and directly respond to auditor's queries;prepare monthly financial statements, forecasts, and other management reports; attend monthly Finance Committee meetings;manage cash flow, fixed asset register maintenance, grant income, FBT, GST, PAYG, reconciliation of all bank accounts and journal ledgers, processing creditor invoices, debtor management, invoicing and receipting, and processing payroll;analyse and interpret data including financial information and enrolment and budget projections;provide regular reports to the School Board and Finance Committee;actively contribute to regular senior leadership meetings;contribute to a positive, collaborative, high-performance team culture.Direct ReportsThe Business Manager is responsible for the management of the finance team, and administration and operations managers.CapabilitiesThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:strong business acumen and financial and management accounting ability;the ability to build trust, rapport, and develop collaborative working relationships at all levels;a high level of attention to detail;highly developed verbal and written communication skills;high-level administrative and technology skills, including financial and payroll systems;the ability to work collaboratively and effectively both in a team environment and independently;strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage own priorities and achieve outcomes;ability to support and promote the ethos of the School.ExperienceDemonstrated strong financial, operational, risk, and governance experience gained within an independent school or similar environment;Strategic and operational leadership experience;Experience in leading, implementing, and reviewing quality processes and strategies;Experience in managing programs including risk, budget, capital works, and resource management;Experience with the Microsoft suite of tools as well as database and financial software systems;Experience in building and managing relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and community groups (such as/similar to a Parents and Friends association);Experience working under a Board or Executive.QualificationsRelevant tertiary and industry qualifications (i.e., Business Management and/or financial or management accounting, CA or CPA).Legal RequirementsACT Working with Vulnerable People (WwVP) Registration;The right to work in Australia, unrestricted.Salary and ConditionsThe remuneration package includes an attractive salary commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience, plus 11% super plus four weeks annual leave. The salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant.Our school currently operates under the Independent Schools NSW Teachers (Hybrid Model) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021.
