Location ProfileRubicon Outdoor School, is a specific purpose outdoor school working with government secondary schools across Victoria. Our vision is to empower students to develop life - long positive growth. We work towards realising this vision by providing meaningful learning for students through a curriculum that supports the development of an enhanced understanding of self and others, as well as the skills required to contribute to a positive community and sustainable environment.The values of Sustainable Futures, Shaped by Challenge, Building Community , and Meaningful Experiences alongside the Department's values are key to the work the school engages in and supports both decision making and behavioural expectations of our community. The school has two campuses. The Thornton Campus, in the Rubicon Valley 100km north-east of Melbourne and The Nayook Campus, located approximately 100 km east of Melbourne. Owing to the nature of the role, this position may be based at either campus.Living within a residential setting at either of the school¿s campuses, students attend classes in local natural environments using adventure activities as part of the instructional content. Students can alternatively engage in overnight expeditions in a range of environments in Victoria also. A number of formalised partnership arrangements with other schools, that see longer term work between stakeholders being undertaken. These partnerships are for four years.The school has worked to improve the integration their learning at Rubicon into students base school curriculum and measuring the associated outcomes.
