About the role
Our Team Leader Urban Biodiversity is a newly created position overseeing the development and coordination of innovative programs that support our vegetation and urban greening sites, all while ensuring compliance with important environmental policies. You'll work closely with Councilors, contractors, and community groups, providing expert insights on conservation and biodiversity.
Other responsibilities include:
Developing, implementing and managing capital works projects including budgeting, community consultation and construction supervision. Develop and coordinate works programs and provide specialised advice for remnant vegetation, urban biodiversity sites and water sensitive urban design systems ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies. Coordinating Glen Eira's environmental volunteers and friend's group activities within Council's Parks Services and open spaces and on natural assets. About you
Are you passionate about conservation, urban biodiversity, and sustainable design? If so, we want to hear from you! We are on the lookout for a dedicated professional who has a strong understanding of land management and ecology, paired with the ability to communicate effectively to lead the movement in enhancing our vibrant natural spaces.
The following is also required:
Relevant Qualifications – (AQF Level 5 or above in Conservation and Land Management, Natural Resource Management (or equivalent) or relevant experience). Demonstrated experience working in natural resource management and urban biodiversity initiatives. Experience in the management and maintenance of public landscapes. Demonstrated plant identification skills. Demonstrated knowledge of ecological systems and habitat recreation. Current Victorian Driver's License. Not meeting all the requirements for this role?
