United Wambo Joint Venture (UWJV) is an Open Cut coal mine located 16 kilometres west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. UWJV is a 50:50 joint venture between United Collieries (Glencore and MEU) and Wambo Coal (Peabody). We commenced operation in 2020 and we are forecast to produce up to 10 million tonnes per annum of saleable thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal until 2042.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, and as an integral member of the UWJV Senior Leadership Team, the primary purpose of this role is to provide visible leadership, mentoring, advice and support to functional areas by:
Driving a culture of continuous improvement in every facet of our operation.
Identifying continuous improvement opportunities in the operation and evaluating, escalating and executing strategies where appropriate.
Coordinating projects within constraints of the open cut and CHPP operations.
Utilising statistical process control techniques wherever possible to evaluate, measure, monitor and review.
Continuing to optimise the UWJV Improvement Process and modifying it based on experience with stakeholders and projects.
Participating in operations reviews including technical operational improvement priorities.
Encouraging people to learn from past improvement projects and build on existing knowledge.
Assisting in project evaluation, assessment, approvals and project management, as required.
To be considered for this opportunity you must have extensive experience in the field of Open Cut mining operations, as well as tertiary qualifications in a technical field related to mining. Exceptional leadership capability, proven relationship building skills and commercial astuteness will be complemented by well-developed communication, interpersonal and influencing abilities.
This role requires an individual with passion and an entrepreneurial spirit, prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who has demonstrated experience in implementing best practice using a fully involved and hands-on approach.
