Your Opportunity As the Business Development & Marketing Manager you will: demonstrate well-developed management skills in leading the Business Development, Marketing and Communications Team to achieve regional business objectives by producing collaborative plans, undertaking research and analysis, and developing innovative strategies and solutions;identify opportunities, establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders, develop business and project plans, implement commercially orientated actions and achieve performance targets;lead the development and implementation of operational business development plans and marketing campaigns, ensuring these support student and employer acquisition within the scope of the organisation's trade, apprenticeship and traineeship offerings;contribute to strategic business development and marketing plans to support trade, apprenticeship and traineeship program enrolments throughout TAFE Queensland.This position reports to the Director, Commercial Services, TAFE Queensland SkillsTech. This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 5 December 2025 unless otherwise determined. The position will be based primarily at Acacia Ridge however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities Successfully contribute to cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling SkillsTech's core values and Agreed Behaviours and the established TAFE Queensland values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Showing Initiative and Taking Responsibility.Lead a team of business development and marketing and communications specialists by providing guidance on individual and team performance, including managing Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes for direct report, and fostering individual growth while promoting a shared vision.Develop and manage an outcomes-driven team to:monitor and report on initiatives to ensure current and future financial targets are achieved;develop detailed market assessment and sales plans, including market segmentation;monitor and oversee the commercial tendering process;lead the negotiation of corporate outcomes in a commercially disciplined environment;deliver consistent account management processes across all regional trade areas;actively pursue target new clients and employers to utilise TAFE Queensland trade delivery.Develop and lead the marketing strategy for TAFE Queensland trade, apprenticeship and traineeship programs, including pre-apprenticeship, advanced trade programs and short courses, providing insights and support in the promotion of business development opportunities, and ensuring messaging, media and resources align with the organisation's strategic objectives.Develop and manage the execution of the Region's business development and marketing plans, ensuring that outcomes are aligned to strategic and operational objectives, and delivered within resourcing, time and budget constraints.Provide advice to the Senior Executive Team and Business Managers on matters relating to business development, marketing, communications and branding, including key markets and products, future focuses and key issues impacting achievement of business targets.Build strong professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the development and growth of industry relationships, enhance market and brand position, develop strategic alliances and assist in removing barriers for growth, whilst ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.Prepare and provide expert advice on collaborative opportunities to increase the region's capability and image as a preferred vocational education and training provider, and maximise market penetration in the competitive trade and technical training environment.Support improvements to the organisation's customer communication experience by developing and maintaining a communications framework which promotes a consistent TAFE Queensland voice.How you will be assessed The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
Demonstrated highly effective people management skills that includes providing high level and supportive leadership that rewards excellence, encourages creativity and innovation and maximises workforce capability while promoting a shared vision for success.Demonstrated high level knowledge of the national vocational education and training sector (or similar industry) with an emphasis on market development, market share growth, sales growth and contract management.Proven high level capacity to develop, implement and monitor effective strategies that support the achievement of business targets whilst specifically targeting identified priority areas.Highly developed communication, negotiation, problem solving, and relationship management skills as evidenced by a record of achievement in developing and effectively managing positive and collaborative partnerships with a wide variety of key stakeholders in challenging work environments.Comprehensive understanding of contemporary business development, account management, and marketing and communications concepts and the ability to develop, lead and promote strategic brand management activities.Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements Previous experience in managing teams effectively and developing operational plans to meet strategic business objectives.Highly Desirable Requirements Previous experience in Business Development roles.Formal qualifications in Marketing or a marketing related field.Qualification and experience in project management.Previous background or knowledge of VET training.Desirable Requirements Previous exposure to Corporate sales and projects.How to apply If you're interested in this role, click the 'Apply' button to submit your application via the TAFE Queensland Recruitment Portal.
