Role: Business Development Manager (Land Acquisition Role)
Location: Canberra, Sydney or Queensland, Australia
This position is for a Business Development Manager responsible for supporting renewable energy projects in eastern Australia, with a focus on land acquisition and securing necessary permits and rights for the development of solar, wind, and energy storage projects. The role is primarily based in Sydney or Canberra with about 30% travel to regional areas of Australia, but remote work from central NSW or QLD may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities: Identify and assess potential project sites for solar, wind, and energy storage.Conduct due diligence and preliminary feasibility studies on potential sites.Develop project budgets and support financial analysis and modeling.Negotiate with landholders to secure land rights for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of renewable energy projects.Build and manage relationships with stakeholders such as landholders, regulators, utilities, and community leaders.Collaborate with internal teams (planning, legal, engineering, etc.) to support project development.Produce project documentation and promotional materials.Perform quality assurance checks and due diligence to ensure business opportunities are viable.Meet project deadlines and seek more efficient ways to run development functions.Travel and work overtime as needed.Requirements: Minimum 3 years of experience in sales, project development, property development, agricultural consultancy, or similar client-facing roles.Proven ability to achieve sales targets and build strong relationships.Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.Ability to work autonomously and manage tasks effectively in both structured and unstructured environments.Mathematical/financial literacy and basic proficiency in Excel.Willingness to travel and work overtime when necessary.Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in Australia.Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the energy industry or familiarity with wind and solar power projects is a plus.Understanding of development feasibility and experience with CRM and GIS tools is beneficial but not essential.If you have the necessary skillsets to take up this position, please do not hesitate to apply!
