The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong commercial relationships with a dedicated panel of Vero brokers.
Working closely with underwriters, claims, and credit teams, the BDM ensures customer-focused service and efficient issue resolution.
This role includes setting joint objectives with brokers and executing related activities across various settings, all aimed at driving GWP retention, profitable growth, and broker satisfaction.
What you'll do
Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with broker panel offices, gaining an in-depth understanding of their business structure, needs, and objectives
Collaborate with internal teams (underwriters, claims, credit control, Sales Manager) to provide seamless, customer-focused service and solutions, resolving issues and driving business growth
Develop and monitor broker office business plans, setting SMART objectives to achieve retention, growth, and satisfaction
Coordinate and manage activities to maximize outcomes, remove bottlenecks, and address potential issues
Facilitate meetings, deliver training, and present Vero's value propositions, product features, and target markets
Identify and qualify new business opportunities, gather market intelligence, and participate in initiatives to improve Vero's competitive advantage
What you'll bring
ANZIIF Certificate or Diploma in Financial Services is desired; Tier 1 and 2 Insurance Broking Operations are highly regarded
Successful insurance experience is highly desirable, while sales and broking experience are also valued
Strong commercial understanding of the general insurance market and products is highly desirable
Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative commercial relationships and networks
Effective communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations, facilitate meetings, write business proposals, and negotiate to achieve outcomes
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business plans with SMART objectives
Strong analytical skills to identify opportunities and trends, and problem-solving abilities that consider multiple perspectives
