Business Development Manager - Federal & Public SectorA Business Development Manager at Thoughtworks is responsible for developing a pipeline of new opportunities, converting those opportunities into paid work, and helping establish the early relationship with the client.
The BDM typically engages with senior business and technology stakeholders at clients. Ideally you will have a track record of working and building relationships at the C-suite and senior management level, using a consultative selling approach to maximize customer outcomes. And you recognise that our people and our clients are at the center of everything we do.
Job responsibilitiesLeveraging the recent success in the public sector, convert new public sector target accounts in ANZ, creating the foundation for long-term, value-based relationships.Create and execute pursuit strategies in collaboration with internal SMEs and specialists, and build propositions aligned with ours and our clients' values and needs.Engage with client executives as a true business partner versus a software delivery partner, expanding our engagements to encompass the breadth and depth of our capabilities, including where appropriate, our world-leading global delivery centers and local First Nations Delivery Centre.Job qualificationsTechnical SkillsAble to develop a territory plan and a pipeline of new clients and client engagements.Able to identify and prioritize target accounts and develop opportunities within these accounts.Able to identify and qualify the right opportunities; confident to say no when it is not the right opportunity.Able to create compelling solutions that address each organization's unique challenges in close collaboration with internal SMEs and specialists.Able to navigate, work and thrive in loosely structured, flat organizations.Able to negotiate and persuade, winning the trust of senior executives to achieve the desired outcomes.Retain a strong work ethic and an internal motivation and hunger to exceedProfessional skillsExperience selling custom software, human-centered design, and advisory services via high-performing teams to the public sector.10+ years experience selling into state or federal Government in Australia, with a strong network of contacts in these sectors.Experience engaging with C-level and senior management stakeholders on both the business and technology sides of organizations.Other things to knowLearning & DevelopmentThere is no single career path that fits everyone at Thoughtworks: how you want to develop your career is completely up to you.
