The Hotel School Australia (THSA) is a unique educational partnership between SCU and Mulpha Australia, a major stakeholder in the hospitality, tourism and hotel industry worldwide.
THSA develops future leaders in the hospitality, tourism, leisure and increasingly the luxury lifestyle sectors and does this by delivering a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management and a Master of Business in Global Hotel Leadership inclusive of 4 nested courses to domestic and international fee-paying students.
SCU is registered as an Australian Public University and as a Provider of Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). The ESOS agency has enabled SCU to be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). These registrations enable THSA to deliver the courses on behalf of the partnership to both domestic and international students.
Celebrating 35 years of operation in 2024, THSA operates across three states and four campuses and as a result has the largest national footprint of any hospitality, leisure and tourism program in Australia.
Job Description The Business Development Manager (Domestic) will be responsible for d eveloping growth strategies for expanding THSA's domestic student enrolment market identifying opportunities to increase brand awareness, market share and student recruitment.
The successful candidate will be based at The Hotel School Sydney campus and will be required to undertake regular domestic travel.
Responsibility for ensuring the effective administration of future domestic student acquisition activities across the key areas:
Develop comprehensive strategies for attracting domestic students at either High School graduate level or mature-age return-to-study audiences to THS, taking into account market trends, partnership opportunities, non-digital channels for recruitment, competitor analysis and brand positioning. In collaboration with campus teams, support staff in each state to execute a multi-channel annual plan designed to achieve departmental objectives. Attend school and career exhibitions throughout NSW to achieve lead generation and enrolment targets. Serve as the primary point of contact for NSW prospective domestic students and their families, providing guidance and support throughout the customer journey. Create and maintain relationships with high schools, VET/RTO institutions, industry partners and industry groups to promote THS and its programs. Attend events held by THSA and develop new opportunities to engage with partner channels. Provide market feedback and competitor activity insights for assigned markets. Manage the CRM effectively to ensure all details are up to date. Generate regular reports on recruitment activities and outcomes, providing insights and recommendations to inform future decision-making. Manage the THSA Student Ambassador program, executed nationally. Work with the marketing team to support the development of marketing materials and campaigns targeted at domestic student audiences. Act as support for the Domestic Sales team with the conversion of leads during peak periods.
Desired Skills and Experience Qualifications :
Tertiary level qualifications in, sales, business development or communications together with relevant work experience is desirable. A WWCC clearance is required. Skills and Competencies: Proven track record of achieving sales leads targets Equivalent to five (5) years' experience within a similar role Demonstrated experience within the Australian education or sales sector Proven ability to build effective working relationships, negotiate and deliver outcomes with a range of stakeholders. Proven ability to develop and implement a business development plan. Ability to innovate and communicate ideas effectively. Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders within a complex organisational structure. Advanced Word, Excel and Outlook proficiency. Experience with student CRM and data management platforms. Proven ability to multitask, prioritise work and meet multiple deadlines. Demonstrated attention to detail with a strong sense of accountability and ownership. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with the ability to take direction. Readiness to learn new processes, skills and technologies.
