Apply now Job no: 504084 Work type: Ongoing Full Time Location: Sydney Categories: Legal & Corporate Affairs Be a part of Australia's independent national broadcasterUltimo, Sydney: Convenient CBD location (near Central Station)Permanent Full-time Vacancy$93K - $102K Plus 15.4% ABC Nominated SuperAbout the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer with a desire to work in television production, broadcast and content streaming. Working with the Business Affairs Leads, you will contribute to the rights strategy, advise internal teams and negotiate agreements associated with commissioned and acquired content across all ABC platforms, including ABC's streaming platform, ABC iview. The ABC commissions and acquires a large volume of content and it's important that our contracting both accurately captures the rights required and effectively manages the associated risks.You will have the opportunity to support internal teams on ABC internal productions, negotiate with a range of small and large producers and distributors, and will also work closely with all divisions of the ABC to meet divisional priorities. The role requires someone who enjoys working collaboratively with others, is self-motivated and has a passion for content.Your key responsibilities will include:Work closely with all divisions of the ABC to meet divisional priorities. Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers / distributors / stakeholders of commissioned and acquired content. Working with the relevant commissioned content Business Affairs Lead, contribute to the effective contracting of commissioned content across all ABC platforms.Draft, negotiate and finalise development agreements, talent agreements contracts, licence agreements and other commissioned contracts as required.Finalise project documentation in accordance with the ABC's commissioning process and ABC policies.Draft, negotiate and finalise acquisitions contracts as well as finalise project documentation in accordance with the ABC's acquisitions process and ABC policies.Undertake data entry of rights for acquired and commissioned content in ABC databases, prepare rights and contract summaries and circulate to stakeholders as required.About YouYou will have tertiary qualifications in law to enable you to draft, negotiate and finalise contracts and a strong background in intellectual property rights, commercial negotiation and contract management to ensure the ABC's content deals meet the rights and business needs of the ABC.You will also have:Substantial experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, with experience in intellectual property transactions.Advanced ability to draft and interpret licence agreements, with experience relating to content.Advanced experience in contract management and an understanding of rights management, preferably within a legal, acquisition / distribution or business affairs department.Demonstrated interest in the broadcasting and content streaming industry.Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to foster internal and external stakeholder relationships.Experience in working as part of a small team and ability to work well under pressure to achieve agreed outcomes.The ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment under limited direction.For further details on the role and requirements, please refer to the full position description:  504084 BUSINESS AFFAIRS EXECUTIVE.pdf For further information on this position please contact Julia Kosky, Business Affairs Lead via ****** We respectfully request that Recruitment Agencies do not submit applications for this position.For more information on working at the ABC visit abc.net.au/careers The ABC strives for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and to promote a culture of opportunity.
