Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Services and Technology Manager will provide expertise into and lead the delivery of business/corporate functions and governance activities.
You will actively participate in the management of key relationships and agreements/contracts of a business nature to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of business and technology services in a correctional centre.

ResponsibilitiesContribute to the development, promotion, and implementation of Queensland Corrective Services' strategic direction and the centre's operational plan.Provide expert, evidence/insights-based and trusted advice to the General Manager and the Centre's Management Team on significant and/or high-risk business services matters.Develop processes including effective internal controls, reporting, and risk management processes to provide a high level of assurance to centre management.Lead and manage multiple teams to deliver business service functions and governance to achieve outcomes consistent with Agency strategic and operational objectives.Proactively support work units across the Centre to achieve business priorities and deliver services aligned to strategic objectives.Manage and build team capability through coaching, mentoring, performance development, and appraisal to facilitate their continued development; address underperformance when presented.Act as a role model for an environment which is motivated, productive, and committed to high-quality service and foster a culture of continuous innovation and improvement of operational business functions and processes.Develop and write complex business cases and funding submissions to reflect the strategic and/or operational requirements of the centre, including capital and minor works submissions.Participate as an effective team member on the Centre's Management Team on-call roster for the management of on-call situations, out of business hours (on-call applicable payments apply).Managing Business SystemsIdentify, recommend and implement solutions for problems and issues as they emerge.Manage the development and implementation of a financial business process framework and enable the delivery of supporting business materials to build and sustain a financially astute frontline workforce.Lead the planning, coordination, and timely delivery of financial-related processes and information through partnering with key and internal stakeholders.Develop and maintain constructive partnerships and relationships with clients and stakeholders in order to identify, mitigate, and manage financial, legal, and compliance risks.Manage the allocation of budgets for the effective operation of the centre.Provide monthly reporting analysis and advice on centre cost centre performance in terms of expenditure, FTEs, and activity highlighting relevant variances to assist in decision-making processes.Support centre management in developing and implementing annual business plans (incorporating centre activity levels, workforce, quality requirements, and operating and capital budget) and coordinate the centre's operating budget and forecasting preparation.Manage the centre's in-cell prisoner technology function in collaboration with the Digital Services and IT Branch.Develop and ensure strong working relationships including the development of communication protocols to ensure prompt resolution for issues related to in-cell prisoner technology occur.Lead and deliver business transformation activities by exploiting contemporary technologies and practices that positively contribute to a client-focused operational environment.Lead the development and monitor the progress of annual efficiency savings initiatives for the centre.Minimise risk to the Agency by ensuring mechanisms are in place to identify non-compliance and poor performance of externally contracted providers and drive rectification/remediation activity.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
