Business Analyst - Data Governance (2-year fixed term)The role
APRA is seeking a Business Analyst with a strong stakeholder engagement and process engineering focus to join the Data Strategy and Governance team.
This role will work closely with stakeholders across APRA to elicit and capture requirements along with process impacts for APRA's uplift in organisation-wide data governance and data management disciplines.
The role will analyse existing data management and data governance related business processes to seek opportunities to simplify, automate and reduce operational and data risks through the delivery of enhanced processes and technology solutions.
The team
The position will play a key role in APRA's investment in strengthening its technology and data infrastructure and capabilities, over the medium term, providing its people with data and insights to drive continued excellence in supervision.
You will sit within the Chief Data Office as part of the Technology and Data Division which enables APRA with frameworks, technology and systems that support APRA's data and technology operations.
The Chief Data Office enables APRA in its mandate to help protect the Australian community through data enabled decision making.
The role will report directly into the Head of Data Strategy and Governance and will be responsible for working closely with other BAs, technical specialists, business stakeholders and project teams.
Key responsibilities Preparing and running workshops/ interviews with internal stakeholders across all APRA divisions to elicit and capture business requirements (functional and non-functional), analyse and document 'as-is and to-be processes' and identify opportunities for improvement.Providing input and feedback to support change activities.Providing feedback and guidance to support design.Assist in the development of a comprehensive data governance and capability uplift strategy, including identifying key activities, defining success criteria.Collaborate with stakeholders to design and document the target operating model for enabling data driven decision making.Assessing solution options, their impacts and benefits by understanding business capabilities and priorities.Planning, performing, reporting on all business analysis tasks and assistance with scope analysis, project planning, and other quality assurance activities.Serve as the point of contact between the business, data and technology teams.Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business users. About you 5+ years working as a business analyst interacting with both technical and business teams.Experience working on regulatory and data projects within the finance sector.
(Experience in data governance related roles looked upon favourably.
)Strong business analysis skills including requirements gathering and definition, analysis, business process mapping (as-is / to-be), impact analysis, running workshops, etc.Strong analytical, investigative and research skills, including analysis and presentation.Excellent stakeholder management capability - ability to form good working relationships, influence outcomes, and work closely with disparate stakeholders to come to solutions that meet all needs.Ability to discuss requirements with technical stakeholders.Proven experience in synthesising business requirements into an agreed statement of needs for process, people and technology.Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills.Strong experience with IT project lifecycle - analysis, design, build, test and implementation.
Iterative, Agile and Waterfall experience. To work with us, you need to be an Australian citizen with eligibility to gain a Baseline Security clearance.
