Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Researcher PhD Student at Western Sydney University located in the Greater Sydney Area. The Researcher will be responsible for developing a new generation of integral waterproofing admixture by using nano-hydrophobic and crystalline admixtures in combination for improving concrete durability. The role involves day-to-day tasks related to research, experimentation, analysis, and academic collaboration.
Qualifications
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, who are keen to apply their skills to key issues in concrete durability. In particular, the project is suitable for candidates with strong interests in cement chemistry and concrete admixtures.
The successful applicant should:
Hold qualifications and experience equal to one of the following: (i) an Australian First Class Bachelor (Honours) degree, (ii) coursework Masters with at least 25% research component, (iii) Research Masters degree, or (iv) equivalent overseas qualifications. Demonstrate strong academic performance in subjects relevant to chemical engineering, polymer engineering, and/or material engineering/science. Have an understanding of the importance of concrete durability. Be willing to learn cement and concrete chemistry. Be enthusiastic and highly motivated to undertake further study at an advanced level.
