About the role
To lead all technical services activities including planning, scheduling, development, production, paste and ventilation relating to the Cowal Underground Mine, with a key focus on results within the following:
Leading and upholding exceptional standards including safety, production and cost are developed, implemented and maintained. Exceptional communications and engagement are maintained with other inter and intra-departmental teams. Ensure that technical support provided to operational teams considers requirements of applicable Work Health and Safety Legislation, Australian Standards and Environmental Standards / Procedures and other site regulations. Ensure the efficient use of in-house processes for identifying, reporting and managing hazards and incidents and proactively take steps to eliminate risk-taking behaviours or actions. Actively contribute to an injury-free culture throughout the mine via Visible Felt Leadership to help promote safe working conditions and practices. Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure that regular team safety meetings are held to promote safe work practices and a healthy and safe workplace. Set clear accountabilities and deliverables for direct reports including annual targets and KPI's for operational teams with effective performance management. Develop, mentor, coach and lead a team of engineers and technical staff to enhance their development and success. Actively manage the preparation of all underground mine production plans with consideration given to risk (safety, business, operational), profitability, quality and regulatory compliance. Provide short-term and medium-term guidance for development, production, paste filling and ventilation and compile this information to create accurate mine planning, scheduling and design requirements. Define and optimise mine planning scenarios to maximise business opportunities. Review and deliver timely and accurate capital and operating budgets, regular forecasts and accruals to be used for effective cost management on a daily, monthly and annual basis. Carry out month-end reporting and variance analysis on actual vs. forecast information and provide commentary for variations against targets on a monthly and quarterly basis and identify opportunities and / or plans to recover. Provide input into Contract Documentation as required. About you
Reporting to the Mine Manager for underground mining you will have the opportunity to lead and mentor a team of engineers at a dynamic expanding site. Your contribution will allow you to see results come to fruition with employee development, increased productivity, project initiation and completion, mine expansion and development of new ore bodies.
Utilising your previous extensive mining experience to systematically improve efficiencies to attain the benefits and rewards available.
This role requires the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Bachelor of Engineering – Mining Three plus years' experience in a similar superintendent or leadership role in an underground metalliferous mine Previous underground technical superintendent experience Solid underground operational and technical experience in planning and scheduling of development, production, paste backfill and support services Previous contractor management experience (highly desirable) Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to support, coach and mentor staff Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships within and across various teams High degree of commercial acumen with previous experience in developing budgets Motivated with a high level of self-discipline and accountability to implement and deliver positive outcomes Advanced user of computerised mine planning systems (Deswik preferred) At Evolution, as our name suggests, change and transformation is in our DNA.
