About us headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Bega works to improve health, social, vocational, and educational outcomes for young people.
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Bega. We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally tailored, high-quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.
About the position The Community Engagement Officer takes a lead role in promoting and enhancing understanding of the services offered at headspace Bega as well as mental health through the coordination of community awareness activities. Together with the Service Manager, the Community Engagement Officer will represent the Centre at community forums and events as well as develop local partnerships that ensure the Centre is an integrated part of the youth health and wellbeing sector. The position will also lead the Centre's approach to youth participation.
This position is 4 days per week fixed term until 30 June 2026, with a possibility for extension. It will be based at our headspace Bega service and may require occasional work from our outreach hubs in Eden and Cooma. The position involves some after-hours work.
We are looking for someone with: An interest, passion, and experience working with young people Commitment to delivering activities in partnership with headspace partner agencies Demonstrated skill in delivering evidence-informed community engagement activities that increase community awareness and reduce barriers to care for young people A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or extensive experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences, or education Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems, including an ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people Why join GPH?
