CATCON delivers and manages projects in the Power and Infrastructure sectors, with an impressive portfolio of completed projects across Power (gas, wind, solar, hybrid power) and Infrastructure (general, roads, bridges, structures, including for the mining and water sectors).
Position and Person Profile Reporting to the QSE Manager, CATCON and Project Managers, the roles will take charge of site-wide safety and environmental systems and requirements, deliver on the project agenda, meet project priorities, ensure full compliance, and ensure objectives meet company, regulatory, and client standards for the project.
These HSE Advisor roles are hands-on, working across project sites, liaising with all project stakeholders, and working closely with client representatives and various contractors on site. You must have extensive experience in the field of HSE, preferably in the Construction sector, and understand the WHSE legislation in SA.
You should be passionate about WHSE and able to provide practical HSE services to project leaders and stakeholders. You need to drive improvements, be organized, energetic, and display objective judgment in decision making.
Key Tasks include: Advising Project and Site Managers & Supervisors on matters of Health & Safety compliance and statutory requirements Liaising with the client on HSE matters Delivering site training on HSE, including toolbox meetings, JSEA, and safety inductions Participating in Safety Audits across sites Producing site-specific OHS reports, conducting site inspections, and undertaking accident investigations Setting up site HSE requirements (e.g., signage, publications, first aid/hazardous chemicals) Skills and Experience: Qualifications in health, safety, and environment (required); or a trade or engineering background with a proven background in a previous safety role, with qualifications Experience on industrial scale projects such as roads, water, bridges, or power stations, renewables Experience and clearance to work on DIT roads Working knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices Strong communication skills and high levels of motivation Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office suite Demonstrated experience with implementing HSE agenda from project start-up Application Process: Please register your interest by submitting a Resume and Cover Letter to The Group Manager – HR/Strategy/Communications, quoting Ref no.
