Job Description As a Primary Design / Modeller - Electrical, you will play a key role in designing and modelling electrical systems for critical energy infrastructure projects. You will develop and maintain comprehensive 2D and 3D electrical models for transmission lines and substations while ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards. Your work will support major Australian energy and transport networks, contributing to the nation's transition to sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Design and Modelling: Develop and maintain detailed 3D electrical BIM models using Revit and/or AutoCAD. Produce detailed CAD drawings for primary systems such as high-voltage substations, transmission lines, and power systems. Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, IEC, ANSI, and project-specific requirements. Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with electrical engineers to accurately represent electrical components, including switchgear, transformers, conductors, and grounding systems. Coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines to identify and resolve potential clashes between electrical systems and other building elements. Incorporate red-line mark-ups and feedback to finalize designs based on field input. Technology and Best Practices: Stay updated on the latest BIM technologies and best practices. Proactively identify opportunities to improve design efficiency and quality. Required Skills and Competencies: Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical design and drafting for high and medium-voltage systems, focusing on primary systems for substations and transmission lines. Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical BIM modelling; experience with MicroStation is a plus. Solid understanding of electrical design principles, including power distribution, grounding, and communication systems. Experience working on major infrastructure projects in compliance with Australian Standards and international codes (IEC, ANSI). Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Diploma or Bachelor's preferred). Strong technical knowledge of primary design and electrical systems.
