About The Role Townsville City Council is committed to providing safe, reliable and cost-effective water services to the Townsville community. We understand how important our water is and is striving to preserve this precious resource whilst still allowing residents to use water when they need it. As a city we need to use our water wisely to ensure Townsville's water supply is secure now and into the future.
This role will assist in the operation and maintenance of the bulk water system as directed by the Bulk Water Ganger. This will include repairs to bulk water pipelines and assets and carrying out facility maintenance tasks.
This role is required to participate in the on-call roster and overtime arrangements as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues or emergency works including disaster management.
About You There are certain qualifications that are required and others that can be obtained upon commencement and these include:
Mandatory Current 'MR' class driver's licence (or ability to obtain within 6 months of appointment). Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD). Ability to work long hours in arduous conditions. Must be capable of performing lifting and other labourer tasks. Desirable Knowledge and experience in pipelaying and pipeline maintenance particularly in relation to large diameter water pipes, valves and fittings. Ability to read, write and carry out numerical calculations commensurate with the duties of the position. Ability to use various powered hand tools and minor plant. Mechanical aptitude to operate equipment and perform operator level maintenance. Confined Space Entry Certificate. Senior First Aid.
