Opportunity for Full Time Inspector with a growing business SURE Building Inspections - Port Kennedy
The role of the Inspector is to conduct onsite inspections of residential, commercial and properties under construction, in order to provide detailed and accurate reports to our clients. The Inspector will be on the road full time, attend pre-arranged appointments, and use mobile software to complete reports onsite. While most inspections are within the metropolitan areas of where the Inspector is based, there may be a requirement for occasional regional travel.
The positions are suited to those with a building or property related background who are already a Building Inspector, Building Consultant, Building Surveyor or Registered Builder.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out inspections of residential and commercial properties
Carry out stage inspections of buildings under construction
Accurately identify and detail building construction materials
Document the overall condition of the building documenting defects
Document the timber pest condition of the building and site documenting defects
Identify any potential safety hazards and document
Identify any areas of non-compliance to Australia Standards
Measure building size in square meters
Take photos of building/s, both internally and externally, including cavity areas (e.g. subfloor and roof void)
Additional inspection and training related tasks
Essential Skills/Experience/Criteria:
Minimum 10 years related work experience (building industry / inspection profession)
Sound understanding of AS4349 .1 and AS4349.3, the National Construction Code and relevant construction Australian Standards, and their application to properties inspected
Sound knowledge of residential, commercial and industrial building construction materials
Strong ability to write and present cohesive, coherent, and technically sound reports
Is highly organised and able to manage scheduled inspections
Attention to detail and ability to locate possible root cause of Major defects
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Competent using modern technology (Mobile apps, laptop)
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
A positive attitude and a proactive approach to solving problems
Valid driver's license
Successfully pass a national police check
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or have permanent residency status
Ability to travel regionally
Desirable Requirements:
Registered Builder / Inspector
12 months working experience as a Building and Timber Pest Inspector
Trade qualification and 5 years working experience as a construction carpenter
Education / Qualification Requirements:
Diploma / Degree / Tertiary qualification in Building, Building Surveying, Engineering, Civil or related building studies
Hold statement of attainment for NONAC04013 Residential Building and Inspection Program (or be willing to complete training)
Hold statement of attainment for CPPUPM3008 Inspect for and Report on Timber Pests / CPPUPM3010 Control Timber Pests (or be willing to complete training)
