About the Opportunity This role is individually and solely accountable for the assessment of building works and administration of the relevant building regulations, legislation, standards, and codes for the Western Downs Region, and must be able to operate independently.
This position can be based at any of our regional centres (Dalby/Chinchilla/Miles/Tara or Wandoan), and is a full-time, permanent position. You will be: Undertaking all of the roles of a Building Certifier as prescribed under the Building Act 1975 ensuring compliance with all relevant Acts, Codes and Regulations. This includes:Assessment of Building Applications for Class 1 and 10 buildings;Undertaking of inspections and management of certifications provided by customers;Management of inactive applications with the lapsing processes;Responsibility for the carriage of strategic and process improvements for the section, including administrative and certification functions, including those that result from legislative changes, customer feedback and operating system changes. This includes both the identification and implementation of improvements;Undertaking telephone and counter enquiries, utilisation of Council's customer request system and the preparation of correspondence associated with Building approvals and agenda items;Carrying out necessary inspections and searches on transfer of properties;Undertaking pool safety inspections; This role is a full-time position, working 36.25 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO or Compressed working arrangement as negotiated. Option to work from home as negotiated.
About yourself A person in this position will need to hold a relevant Degree in Building Certification/Surveying (or a course of study which qualifies for accreditation as a Building Certifier) and a license as a Building Surveyor with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission.
It is also necessary for the successful candidate to have:
A current OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card;The relevant qualifications and Licence in Building Certification (Council will reimburse specialist and or professional licences that are a Council imposed requirement of the position description);A Swimming Pool Safety Inspector Licence issued by the Pool Safety Council;A current Class C Drivers Licence.
