About Us Our Rail Division, previously known as Great Southern Rail ("GSR") operates Australia's iconic rail journeys, The Ghan, Indian Pacific, The Overland and Great Southern. There are very few global journeys considered national treasures, but our trains are, without question, iconic Australian experiences.
About the role An exciting role exists as part of our internalisation of the Maintenance function at Journey Beyond Rail. This role in particular will be focused on our platinum carriage build project. This position will be a permanent full time opportunity working on day shift roster 7:00 am-3.00pm, with overtime to be performed as required. This role will be offered on a permanent basis commencing January 2025.
Requirements of this role include:
Fabrication, welding and installation Removal and replacement of worn or damaged components Ensure that all welding is to the required standard Ability to work rostered shifts and weekends Work from specifications and drawings Responsible for complying with rail safety requirements relevant to their work, as communicated by Supervisors and the Operations Manager To complete preventative services/unscheduled repairs and inspections within the scope of trade knowledge and task training Carry out other relevant tasks assigned by the Shift Supervisor About you You hold the necessary trade qualifications as a Boilermaker, previous experience in heavy maintenance and or Rail and ideally, you will have completed a Senior First Aid Certificate.
You will be able to work unsupervised and be a hands-on team player, you will be able to be organised and priorities tasks with a level of flexibility.
