Biosecurity Officer

As a Biosecurity Officer with DEECA, you will support the Victorian community by preparing for and managing the impacts of biosecurity threats, with a focus on Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA). Key responsibilities include:

Supporting community and industry with invasive plant and animal management, plant biosecurity, pest and disease surveillance to enable market access and respond to biosecurity emergencies. Undertaking RIFA surveillance, identification, and recording. Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including government, non-government organisations, landholders, and community members. Working as part of a team to achieve high-quality services and outcomes. The successful candidate will possess:

A tertiary degree in Agricultural Science, Natural Resource Management, Science, or an equivalent science qualification. Strong knowledge of Victorian agriculture and horticulture industries, including biosecurity issues. Excellent self-management, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills. This is a fixed-term position available for 3 years, with the work location at Attwood or Cranbourne.
