Work as a member of a team to undertake clearance of travellers and cargo in varying operational environments to detect and prevent biosecurity risks to Tasmania agriculture, environment and way of life. The role will perform biosecurity risk mitigation functions under State and Commonwealth legislation and appropriately respond to any instances of noncompliance to ensure program plans and responses are successfully implemented. The occupant of this position will be required to be an authorised officer under the Biosecurity Act 2019.

The role will perform biosecurity risk mitigation functions under State and Commonwealth legislation and appropriately respond to any instances of noncompliance to ensure program plans and responses are successfully implemented. The occupant of this position will be required to be an authorised officer under the Biosecurity Act 2019. The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
The following checks are to be conducted:
1. Satisfactory security clearance as required by port authorities.
2. Conviction check in the following conviction areas:
Crimes of violence Sex related offences Serious drug offences Crimes involving dishonesty Serious traffic offences Any other offences under the Biosecurity Act 2019, or related legislation Current unrestricted full or provisional motor vehicle driver's licence. A Certificate IV qualification, or the ability to obtain a Certificate IV qualification in plant health, animal health, land management or invasive species management biosecurity emergency management or government investigations or statutory compliance relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
