About the opportunityWe have a rapidly expanding Natural Areas portfolio with numerous natural assets to maintain, and this role is crucial in shaping the future of our Natural Areas network.
This is a fixed-term position up to June 2025.
Our team focuses on bio-retention systems and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) assets, including constructed waterway management.
As a bio-retention worker, you will:
Ensure bio-retention systems and wetlands are maintained to service standards.Assist with training and development of Council's apprentices.Undertake the maintenance of bio-retention systems, wetlands, lakes, and associated WSUD assets to achieve a safe and attractive finish.You will play a vital role in improving the natural environment of the Blacktown local government area.
Qualifications and experienceRelevant qualifications in Horticulture or equivalent, or satisfactory completion of an indentured Apprenticeship as a Gardener.Extensive experience in maintenance of WSUD assets, gardens and landscaped areas.Chemical Application AQF 3 or equivalent.Current MR driver's licence.Chainsaw operation certificate of competence.Traffic Controller Implementation accreditation.First Aid certificate.Remuneration and benefitsThe salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.
