Our Federal Government client is seeking a BI Architect that will be developing and optimising BI solutions using tools like SQL Server and Power BI Desktop. You will need to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that data architecture aligns with key business objectives.
This is a contract role that will run for 12 months with 2x12 months extension options based in Canberra, Sydney and/or Brisbane.
Deliverables:Deliver architecture and design documentation as required understanding the enterprise patterns and data technology and applying industry best practice frameworks, patterns, and technologies in the data and Business Intelligence (BI) space.Understand complex information systems and design effective data solution architecture and models to acquire, store, retrieve, analyse and visualise departmental data in adherence to enterprise standards.Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.Expertise in on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments including and understanding of cloud computing and cloud native tools.Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and address the concerns of all stakeholders, including the business, immediate team and architecture governance bodies, and deliver fit-for purpose, robust solutions.Demonstrated ability to support development and test teams to realise solution architecture into a delivered solution.Research data trends, industry dynamics, frameworks and tooling to guide the Department's data usage standards and principles.Provide mentoring, drive innovation and promote a culture of continuous improvement, work collaboratively and willingly share information and work with peers to streamline processes and create efficiencies.Required Skills and Experience:Relevant experience providing architecture and technical leadership in one or more of the following Data/BI platforms: Teradata, Oracle, Google Cloud Platform, Informatica, SAS, PowerBI, Qlik, Looker.Knowledge of governance methods in relation to Power BI and experience enforcing governance and best practices around usage of BI tools.Training end users on adopting Power BI and following best practices around responsible use of data.Experience migrating BI artefacts from other BI tools into Power BI.3+ years' experience as a data architect or architecting solutions in a data warehouse and BI space.Demonstrated experience and in-depth technical skills to manage complex Datawarehouse operations in large and complex organisations.Demonstrated experience in planning, designing and establishing enterprise capability for BI and visualisation tools such as Power BI and manage competing stakeholder interests.Well-developed problem-solving ability, including the ability to record, analyse and interpret data and relevant information to make judgements, inform strategies and resolve complex issues.Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills including the ability to work with the business and technical teams to understand requirements, synthesise complex information and provide suitable solutions.Strong and demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, including interpersonal skills, and ability to negotiate with, liaise, build rapport, and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft high quality documents, provide advice, and communicate persuasively to a range of audiences.Ability to elicit feedback from stakeholders, synthesise the information and improve processes and practices iteratively.Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizen who has an existing Baseline Clearance.
