About the OPPORTUNITY We have a new opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Project Manager. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including a 9 day fortnight.
As the Project Engineer you will be responsible for assessing manufacturability of designs, and providing engineering support to the Outsourcing Team to enable RFQs. You will predominantly enable subcontractors to achieve the design intent, by assessing the buildability of the scope and articulating this through Statement of Works.
Key Responsibilities Include: Provide professional engineering technical and operational support that is accurate, safe, on-time and on-budget to support project and task activities. Produce Statement of Works to support the outsourcing team. Identify key risks and opportunities within areas of responsibilities and create mitigation plans. Work with various stakeholders from Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Subcontractors to achieve the production of Hunter product. Support the manufacturing processes and framework through HCF build. Reconcile production results and strategy decisions to enable future improvements to the HCF build. About YOU You will need:
A Trade or Degree level qualification in an engineering discipline. Demonstrated experience within mechanical engineering, production engineering or field engineering environment related to metal fabrication, equipment installation and systems integration. Demonstrated practical knowledge of manufacturing processes in a commercial and/or defence environment. Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with engineers and production personnel within the project. Demonstrated good problem-solving skills.
