We have a great opportunity for a specialist Senior AWS Network Engineer to join our Modern Run team.In this role, you will be essential in designing, deploying, and managing advanced network environments for modern applications and workloads for our customer's platforms.On a day-to-day basis, you'll work with a team of top-tier experts to provide innovative solutions that enhance performance, scalability, and security.
This role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies and significantly impact our clients' success.Key Responsibilities include:Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand their modern application requirements, manage network solutions that align with their cloud-native strategies, and ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving.Network Design and Implementation: Manage and improve high-performance, resilient, and scalable network solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, CloudFront, Elastic Load Balancing (NLB/ALB), Global Accelerator, and Network Firewall.
Drive the adoption of best practices and standards.Network Security: Manage comprehensive security measures, including web application firewalls (WAF), intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), network segmentation, and security groups, to protect client infrastructure and applications.
Conduct regular security audits and compliance checks.Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor network performance and health, proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, and optimize network configurations for optimal efficiency and responsiveness.
Use advanced monitoring tools and analytics to predict and prevent issues.Modernization and Automation: Lead the modernization of legacy network environments, automate network provisioning, configuration management, and scaling using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
Champion the adoption of DevOps practices.Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest trends in networking and cloud technologies, evaluate and implement emerging solutions to enhance the performance and capabilities of client networks.
Participate in industry forums, conferences, and training sessions to continuously enhance your skills.Key Skills required:Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years of experience working with AWS networking services and modern cloud architectures.
Proven track record of successful project delivery and innovation in network design.Security Clearance: NV1 or NV2 clearance would be advantageous or be prepared to get the clearance for this role.Certifications: AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty certification or equivalent experience.
Additional relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CISSP) are a plus.Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancing.
Proficiency in scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash) and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK Stack).Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues in modern cloud environments.
Experience with root cause analysis and incident management.Client Focus: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and internal teams.
