About the OpportunityBHP is currently offering Auto Electrician Apprenticeships. The program is a 2-year training program based at our Mackay FutureFit Academy. Apprentices study to complete a full trade qualification (Certificate III Automotive Electrical Technology AUR30320). You will be paid while you train at FutureFit Academy and become a qualified Automotive Electrician at BHP. While training you will be working a roster of 7 Days / 7 Off / 7 Nights / 7 Off, day shift hours are 6 am to 4:30 pm and night shift hours are 1:30 pm to 12:00 am. These are permanent opportunities, and once successfully completing your studies, you will continue your employment with BHP based at one of our mine sites.
The training program involves applying knowledge of automotive/mining electronics, engines, and chassis with the ability to diagnose and repair automotive/mining electrical & air-conditioning systems.
These Apprenticeships are scheduled to commence in May 2025.
About YouWe are seeking applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds. As this program contains fast-tracked learning, you will need to commit to attendance, be adaptable to your working roster, and live local to the FutureFit Academy.

A high commitment to safety is a mustHave an interest in problem-solving and working on the toolsBe motivated to learn new skills and knowledge, whilst enjoying a mixture of classroom and hands-on learningAbility to live a safe travelling distance to the training centre - this is not a FIFO/DIDO role (whilst studying at the academy)To have the necessary personal support networks available to assist you in working the above rosterExperience working on machinery/vehicles through a hobby or work is highly regarded, but not essentialBenefits of ProgramIf successful, you will be paid to study whilst working on industry-leading equipment and will have the opportunity to learn about BHP systems and processes.
