About this exciting opportunity As our Joint Field Management Program (JFMP) Engineer you will be a valued member of the AIMS Technology Transformation Engineering team and reporting to one of the Lead discipline engineers. You will be responsible for the systems engineering activities for the design, production, test and support of the JMFP deliverable versions of ReefScan Transom and ReefScan Deep.
In this role you will significantly contribute to the development, testing and support of marine sensor collection systems (primarily imaging and sonar systems supported by onboard artificial intelligence algorithms) through responsibility for the design, development, build, test and support of hardware/firmware elements of the systems.
About you You will hold a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution in Electrical, Electronics, Robotics, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering (or an associated field) or a qualification gained elsewhere that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.
You will bring practical experience in designing, constructing, integrating and verifying firmware/hardware for robotic/autonomous/sensor systems including experience in designing and developing integrated hardware and firmware such as underwater housings, platforms, electronics enclosures and wiring, sensor integration and mounting hardware.
Our ideal candidate will show experience with embedded software design and programming relevant to robotics and autonomous systems and hold a Recreational (or commercial) boat licence and diving qualifications.
