Job DescriptionThe Communication and Publishing Department (CPD) is seeking to appoint a Media Manager for the Pacific Area. This is a permanent full-time position based in Sydney Australia, reporting to the Area Public Affairs Manager.The core mission of Church Communication is to build strategic relationships with opinion leaders who influence the reputation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These relationships can significantly impact the Church's mission, either positively or negatively. The role involves providing valuable information, insights, and perspectives by identifying challenges and opportunities facing the Church, assisting Church leaders in making informed decisions, anticipating the impact of these decisions on various audiences, and communicating effectively to build strong relationships and solve problems.Responsibilities Managing relationships with news media professionals across the Pacific Area, collaborating with local Church leaders and communication councils Responding to news media enquiries and helping local Church leaders and communication councils do similarly Leading a group of missionaries and others, maintaining Pacific Area editions of the Church's Newsroom Training Church leaders and members as to how to engage effectively with news media and other media influencers Writing and editing Newsroom/social media/website publication as well as other strategic communications as assigned Be ahead and up to date of current affairs throughout the Pacific and handle major special events QualificationsBachelor's degree in communications, journalism, media studies or a similar discipline Seven years' experience working in news media, communications, or a similar field Excellent writing and communication skills Strategic thinking and the ability to foster collaboration by cultivating and developing relationships Good organization skills in managing concurrent assignments Proficiency in MS Office Suite Note: Preference will be given to candidates who have the legal right to work in Australia.This position is subject to close without notice.About UsChurch employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and abilities to further the Lord's work.
