The Role
Joint Capabilities Group (JCG), Cyber Operations Division (COD) is seeking a highly motivated professional with recent experience in providing strong proactive management within an ICT, Audio Visual (AV), Video Teleconferencing (VTC), or Customer Service environment of a complex organisation.
This position is part of a geographically dispersed team of multi-disciplinary professionals from both public and private industry. The main focus of this role is communication, collaboration, operating within and assuring cyber security boundaries in order to support the war-fighter at all times.
Audio Visual Engagement Managers (AVEMs) operate in a fast-paced, high exposure ICT environment which demands exceptional quality. AVEMs are the first point of contact for Defence end users (the 'customer') who require an AV or VTC solution. Applicants will need to demonstrate exceptional communication skills, be customer-focused, and demonstrate a high level of resilience, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing initial engagements for Audio Visual (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) requests, and generally facilitating end user requirements. This will include creating a positive and welcoming experience, setting expectations, understanding Defence end user needs, and providing guidance by building a picture for end users of potential AV or VTC solutions in consultation with the wider team and existing accredited patterns. AVEMs will also respond to enquiries relating to approved Defence AV/VTC solutions, and provide in-depth reporting to key stakeholders.
This position has a high reliance on the ability to communicate in a professional, precise and competent manner, to problem solve, and to deliver upon operational outcomes to all key stakeholders.

The Directorate of Audio Visual Operations (DAVO) acts as the Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) representative for the delivery of Audio Visual (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) capabilities across the Defence estate.
Our team comprises a mix of Australian Public Service (APS) and Contracted personnel located between several major Defence bases Australia wide.

Our Ideal Candidate
The AVEM will be an exceptional communicator with proven problem-solving skills delivering outcomes to end users. They will engage with stakeholders at a high-level, and will be required to set and identify expectations, delivering the appropriate solutions that achieve operational outcomes. They are accountable under broad direction to undertake complex AV and VTC service provisioning activities and customer service.
They will work independently within a small team, having some authority and discretion to investigate information from diverse sources and explore innovative approaches to support the longer-term business objectives and end user needs. They will be capable and confident in problem-solving, delivering solutions, presenting business cases, and developing and maintaining suitable work practices and procedures that remain in accordance with strategic and corporate objectives.
They will be familiar with working in an Operations team who are fast-paced and outcome driven. They will use their initiative and experience to analyse, plan, review and adjust work activities and manage priorities to deliver business outcomes. They will have experience as the first and primary point of contact and escalation for a designated footprint or area of responsibility.
