Associate / Senior Associate – Insolvency & Financial Services Litigation

Details of the offer

This boutique national firm has almost 100 staff across the country. The primary focus is on Banking & Financial Services Litigation and Insolvency law, but the firm also contains front-end Banking & Finance, Property and Commercial practices. The Melbourne office is a reasonably new (and growing) outfit with 10 staff, who are all Litigation & Insolvency specialists.
Insolvency: They service pretty much every mid-tier insolvency firm in Melbourne, and you will have the freedom to run your own matters autonomously from beginning to end, including being a primary point of contact for clients, appointing liquidators and receivers, and appearing in court. The Partner is very engaged, warm and approachable, and you will have an open door to her to assist you with developing the best strategy for progressing files, and at pinch points.
Financial Services Litigation: They service around 70% of the Private Lender market around Australia. Due to the nature of this market, security issues are always complex and the defendants are usually prepared to fight, which makes these matters more strategic and interesting than regulated banking litigation files.
Being a smaller office, culture is hugely important. This is a young and social team and although they provide first-class service to their clients they don't take themselves too seriously. Most of the team are active in various industry bodies (e.g., WIRV and ARITA) and attend events together as a group.
