Working from our architecturally designed Administration Building in central Maitland, we are looking for a Junior or Associate Legal Counsel to join our highly skilled and growing legal team to make a true and meaningful impact on our community.About the RoleAs Associate Legal Counsel you will support the Legal Counsel in delivery of in-house legal services by advising on diverse and complex matters in planning, environment, contract and local government law. You will assist with the review, negotiation and drafting of contractual agreements and deeds, as well as the development and drafting of Council policies and procedures.You will develop strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders across all levels of the organisation and support them by providing efficient, accurate and strategic legal advice and advocacy services. Additionally, this role will allow you to further develop your advocacy skills in the Land and Environment Court and Local Court proceedings.About YouYou will possess qualifications in Law and a current Australian legal practicing certificate.
