ResponsibilitiesThe Real Estate sector is part of the   Financing & Advisory team within GLBA – Global Banking & Advisory. The team offers a range of solutions to real estate investors for financing the acquisition of or refinancing office properties, retail/shopping centres, industrial / logistics and other asset classes such as hotels, student accommodation and data centres. This includes both traditional non-recourse mortgage loans and capital market financings as well as debt advisory services.
The team operates internationally with teams based in Paris, London, Madrid, Milan, Frankfurt, New York and Tokyo. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the Australian arm of the global Real Estate Finance sector by contributing to origination and supporting the execution of mandates. The primary focus of the successful candidate will include:
Assisting in the origination of finance transactions in the real estate sector in Australia.  These transactions will typically be non-recourse (secured) or corporate (secured) transactions.   Structuring and assisting the regional hub in the execution of finance transactions including market and transaction-specific analysis, execution of the due diligence process, assisting in the preparation of credit applications, performing obligor and transaction rating, term sheet drafting and preparation of offers and agreements. Answering questions from the Societe Generale credit department and any other entities involved in the credit approval process. Participating in the execution of loan documentation assisted by external and/or internal lawyers. Coordinating with and assisting internal teams in the primary and/or secondary distribution of loans in accordance with the agreed strategy.    Monitoring and follow-up of the client relationship and providing business line input in respect of the monitoring of transactions and their documented terms and conditions throughout the life of transactions (and including the annual review) by the middle office. Maintaining an awareness of Australia real estate market conditions and trends including ESG. Playing an active role in the on-the-job training and development of the team's junior staff. Profile required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge Required: University degree in a relevant discipline (business, commerce, law) 3-5 years structured finance experience, preferably in real estate finance Strong numerical skills with a solid understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements and cashflows  Advanced Microsoft Excel - financial modelling skills Strong ability in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint Experience in either real estate finance and/or in another structured finance environment utilising similar tools, processes and procedures.      Behavioural Competency Required: Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment and autonomously Display a sense of ownership in the business and pride in the quality and accuracy of work presented internally and transactions executed for clients Commitment to the team's efforts in the development of the Australian real estate finance business in line with the team's priorities and strategy. Experience of working (including remotely) with people with diverse, international backgrounds and act on team priorities  Alignment with SG values and code of conduct Functional Relationships: Internal: staff from business divisions and support functions locally, regionally and globally      
External: clients and external advisors (e.g. lenders, legal counsel, technical consultants)

We are currently looking for an Associate - Financing & Advisory (Real Estate), Australia to join us. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team within a fast-paced, results focused, global organisation with strong growth ambitions for the Australian business. Real Estate Finance has been active in Australia since June 2019 and has established a strong book of real estate transactions with institutional sponsors across numerous asset classes. The successful candidate will primarily support the origination and execution of real estate structured finance transactions in the Australian market and will develop a good understanding of the business drivers as well as build close relationships with internal stakeholders within the organisation on a regional and global basis. The candidate will work with other business lines in Financing & Advisory such as energy, battery, mining & industries and infrastructure finance, subject to deal pipeline.
