Position Information The Crescent School SSP provides intensive levels of support to students with intellectual and social/emotional disabilities in a specialised educational setting.
The school is located in Goulburn NSW and is a proud member of the Goulburn Community of Public Schools.
A student's eligibility to attend The Crescent School SSP is determined through the Department's disability criteria as well as the availability of a place in an appropriate specialist support class at our school.
The school currently has eight classes from K-12 for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, and the Murranga Murranga Learning Centre which includes four support classes from K-12 for students with social and emotional disabilities, including students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
At present there is an enrolment of 82 students.
This enrolment includes 57 students with an intellectual disability and 25 students with a social emotional disability.
9% of students identify as Aboriginal, and there is one student with English as an additional language or dialect.
The school's current Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) is 145.
At The Crescent School we prioritise the development of literacy, numeracy and wellbeing skills that are critical to supporting students throughout their life.
Selection Criteria Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching trauma-impacted students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and complex and diverse needs, to achieve their personal, social, and learning outcomes. Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and to lead initiatives that address the whole school strategic directions and nurture positive, quality relationships across the school community. Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire and support staff whilst balancing classroom teaching and the complex administrative role of being a leadership team member. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
