Full job description Position Information Hassall Grove Public School is a large, culturally diverse metropolitan school located in the Mount Druitt Network. The school has an enrolment of 617 K-6 students, coming from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. 18% of our students have English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) and 61 students (9%) identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our FOEI currently sits at 125. In 2025, the school will be opening a Support Unit, with three multi-categorical classes. The school has a passionate and committed staff who work tirelessly to enhance their practice, with the common goal of improving student learning outcomes. We operate within a positive culture of high expectations and are committed to working in partnership with the community, where trust and transparency is paramount in instilling a nurturing, supportive and inclusive school environment. Current school priorities include embedding strategic instructional leadership to enhance curriculum delivery of the new English and Mathematics syllabus, building staff capacity around data use in planning and teaching to ensure that teaching and learning programs are responsive to the diverse needs of students, the establishment of consistent, universal evidence-based behaviour practices and a case management approach to wellbeing that involves key stakeholders in each child's learning journey across the school. Extra-curricular opportunities in Sport, Creative Arts, Student Leadership and STEAM enable students to harness their potential to excel. Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary 1. Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a dynamic leadership team, balancing exemplary classroom practice with the complexities of a leadership role and the implementation of whole school initiatives. 2. The ability to initiate, lead and evaluate a culture of continuous improvement in literacy and numeracy driven by data-informed practice, current curriculum expertise and evidenced-based research. 3. A visible leader with the ability to demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal skills to initiate, mentor, build and strengthen positive partnerships with students, parents, staff and the wider community, General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
