Mount Warrigal Public School caters for students from Preschool to Year 6, including a 2-unit preschool, and 4 support unit classes, comprising of an Early Intervention Unit, two multi-categorical classes and a class for students with a moderate intellectual disability and has an enrolment of 246.
Mount Warrigal Public School works in collaboration with the school community, including a dedicated P&C and our Aboriginal parents and community known as our 'Meeting place'. In addition, our school has a strong learning alliance with The Lake Learning Community, comprising of Windang PS, Warilla North PS, Primbee PS, Lake Illawarra South PS and Lake Illawarra High School. The school also has a learning partnership with The Smith Family, who work to support students and families through our Learning Club, Scholarship program and various family support programs.
The school is proud of its diversity, including 30% Aboriginal student enrolment and 14% enrolment of students from non-English speaking backgrounds. Our students come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. Our staff are committed to holding relationships and wellbeing as the core to learning success. Personal wellbeing and learning are based upon an internal psychology model, working towards students and staff intrinsically motivated to control their own choices.

Position Information In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with a proven capacity to work as part of an executive team and effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher and the complex responsibilities of the Assistant Principal role.
Demonstrated expertise in leading and inspiring quality teaching and learning, with a strong focus on explicit teaching and curriculum reform, and a proven ability to mentor and guide staff in implementing data-informed, evidence-based practices that drive continuous improvement.
Proven ability to build and maintain relational trust with students, staff, parents and the wider community to enhance and inspire a positive and cohesive school culture.
Ability to lead whole school trauma informed practices that foster inclusion of all students, promoting wellbeing and engagement while strengthening partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community.
General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practiceKnowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programsEducational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teamsWell developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parentsAbility to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learningKnowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policyConditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
