In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the Senior Manager to ensure the seamless execution of various research initiatives within our facilities. From developing and implementing protocols to overseeing day-to-day operations, your contributions will be vital in maintaining the highest standards of research excellence. Join us in shaping the future of research in Australia!Key responsibilities will include: Manage research trials, including design, setup, conduct, monitoring, and reporting, while developing and maintaining resources, procedures, and protocols for projects in various QASP facilities.Advise researchers on trial terms, conditions, and protocols, assist with Animal Ethics and funding applications, and support research staff and postgraduate students in conducting research within QASP.Oversee and manage QASP research support staff, ensuring proper staffing for research trials and routine operations, including recruitment, induction, training, and development.Assist with preparing the annual budget, quarterly reviews, business plans, facility development, and effective utilization of QASP facilities.Develop strategies for maximum utilization of QASP facilities, monitor maintenance plans, and implement advanced process and project management protocols.Design and implement a QASP Sustainability Program and ensure high-quality control across all processes.This is a full time, five year appointment at HEW Level 7, based at our Gatton campus.The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,659 - $105,244 plus super 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $113,080 - $110,579 per annum. For further information about UQ's benefits, please visit Why Work at UQ and review The University of Queensland's Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2018 - 2021 . About You Completion of an undergraduate degree; completion of an associate diploma and at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or relevant education/training.Demonstrated competence in the conduct of livestock research trials including knowledge and understanding of the University's animal welfare and ethics policies, guidelines and practices and their implementation in the research workplace.Advanced technical capabilities in data collection and livestock managementSound knowledge and understanding of the University's WHS policies and procedures.IT skills in relation to applicable (UQ) IT systems supporting research, staff and organizational administration.Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to the management of staff and their development consistent with QASP requirements.Experience in the broad range of livestock research, in the handling of livestock, collection, maintenance and storage of a variety of research samples used in research activities.Experience in the planning and staffing of research trials and coordination of research technicians and animal attendants.Experience in the scheduling of projects and the ability to use research facilities effectively and to maximise the use of available research resources.Experience in ISO9001 is not essential but will be highly regarded.Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with current QASP staff, QASP researchers and potential clients.Proficient in independently prioritizing workload, meeting deadlines, and adeptly solving problemsAbility to represent QASP at various forums and showcase/present in front of a large audience.Ability to drive (Queensland C class Licence)The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. About UQ's Gatton CampusEstablished over 125 years ago, UQ's Gatton Campus has a long history – from starting out as a dedicated agricultural institution, to being a field hospital during WWII, and to joining the UQ community in 1990.Everyone here has a role to play.
