Period of Appointment: Up to 3 years
Hours per fortnight: 73.50 hours per fortnight
Duties As a delegate of the Commissioner of Police, assist the Manager of Firearms Services to lead a multi-disciplinary team to administer the Firearms Act 1996 in accordance with departmental guidelines and within an agreed risk framework, ensuring consistency with the National Firearms Agreement and other policies. Participate in state and national policy development relevant to the management of firearms and weapons controls.

Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Arson and fire setting; Sexual offences; Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud); Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception); Making false declarations; Violent crimes and crimes against the person; Malicious damage and destruction to property; Trafficking of narcotic substance; False alarm raising. Desirable Requirements Tertiary or industry recognised qualifications and/or professional affiliations in a relevant discipline are desirable as is experience in undertaking roles of a similar nature, policy development and project management tasks.
