We are currently seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to assist with the day-to-day management of our macadamia and avocado orchards.Reporting to the Farm Manager, this position will suit a self-motivated individual looking to become part of an organisation that exists for the good of the community. On Peirson Farms, we grow produce with purpose, and all profits generated from our farming operations are invested back into the community through our counselling services and youth programs.Your main responsibility will be to support the Farm Manager with the coordination and execution of day-to-day farm operations.ResponsibilitiesSupervision and coordinationSupervise farm hands and picking crews - assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.Coordinate with the Farm Manager to plan and prioritise daily activities; including planting, harvesting, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.Monitor work progress, address issues and obstacles, and make adjustments as necessary to optimise productivity and efficiency.Field OperationsAssist in the execution of field operations, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops, as well as maintaining crop health and soil fertility.Operate farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.Monitor weather conditions, soil moisture levels, and crop development to inform decision-making and optimise farming practices.Quality AssuranceEnsure that all farm activities comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.Monitor crop health by identifying signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies, and report findings to the Farm Manager for appropriate action.Participate in quality control inspections and harvest evaluations to maintain product quality and meet consumer specifications.Recordkeeping and ReportingMaintain accurate records of farm activities, including planting dates, crop yields, chemical applications, equipment usage, and labour hours.Assist in inventory management, including tracking supplies, materials, and equipment to ensure adequate stock levels and timely replenishment.Training and DevelopmentTrain new farm workers on proper procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation to ensure competency and compliance.Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members to foster skill development, teamwork, and continuous improvement.Promote a positive work culture characterised by mutual respect, communication, and collaboration.The Assistant Farm Manager plays a vital role in our farm's success, supporting the Farm Manager in overseeing daily operations, managing resources, and ensuring the highest standards of productivity, quality, and safety.Key requirements:Commitment to a safety-first cultureWillingness to work in a teamProven ability to manage staffCurrent tractor operating and spraying experienceForklift license or willingness to obtainChemical certificate or willingness to obtainExperience in adhering to Freshcare requirementsAbility to complete physically demanding tasksFirst Aid and CPR trainingCurrent driver licenceCurrent Blue Card (working with Children) or willing to obtainJob Type: Full-timePay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per yearBenefits:Salary packagingSchedule:8 hour shiftNo weekendsOvertimeExperience:Farm management: 2 years (Required)Licence/Certification:Drivers license (Required)Forklift Licence (Preferred)Blue Card (Preferred)Chemical Certificate (Preferred)Work Authorisation:Australia (Preferred)Work Location: In personApplication Deadline: 02/11/2024#J-18808-Ljbffr
