Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Full time $211,607 - $238,096 + 15.4% superannuation The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP) is seeking a Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 1 Assistant Director to successfully lead and manage a legal branch in delivering independent, modern, effective and digitally enabled prosecution services.About the role:As a key member of the CDPP's leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of a legal branch, including leading people, managing performance and contributing to the strategic leadership and management of our organisation.In undertaking the demanding and intellectually challenging work of the role, you will apply your extensive knowledge and experience in the application of criminal law and procedures, sound legal judgement and strong leadership in order to:Focus strategically on the CDPP's core activities and role within the government context, driving outcomes and championing broader priorities both within and outside the organisation.Identify, establish and nurture relationships with key strategic stakeholders outside the CDPP. Consult broadly, drawing information from many external and internal sources and points of view to determine emerging threats, risks and opportunities to formulate and give impartial and forthright advice and to make difficult decisions. Apply lateral thinking, strong decision-making skills, and decisive action to best position the CDPP to anticipate and address risks, maximise opportunities and drive positive change and innovation. Set the strategic direction for a legal branch, communicating objectives and expectations to create a shared sense of purpose and engender a commitment to achieving results. Lead and mentor lawyers and staff, providing guidance and assistance with questions of criminal law and practice, including advocacy. Qualifications:MandatoryEligible for admission, or admitted as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or TerritoryThe ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) clearance Extensive criminal prosecution experiencePractising CertificateMember of relevant Bar or Legal AssociationThis recruitment round is also advertised as Affirmative Measures - Disability and Indigenous .
