Assistant Director - One Health Unit and Antimicrobial Resistance Policy and Surveillance Section Adelaide SA, Brisbane QLD, Canberra ACT, Darwin NT, Hobart TAS, Melbourne VIC, Perth WA, Sydney NSW The interim Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC) is looking for leaders to help build, support and actively contribute to the strengthening of its One Health and Antimicrobial Resistance capabilities.

The key duties of the position include: Responsibilities include: Lead the development of high-quality documents appropriate for a range of audiences, including briefings, minutes, correspondence and reports of varying complexity.
Drive the development and management of complex and high-profile policy agendas and provide high-level policy advice.
Represent the interim Australian CDC in a variety of forums to engage stakeholders on the technical aspects of policy issues.
Preparing new policy proposals.
Guide procurement, project and contract management activities relating to the areas of work.
Building and sustaining productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including international agencies and Australian Government agencies.
Oversee the provision of policy and secretariat support for key expert committees.
Manage a small team and undertake team planning to ensure high priority and urgent tasks are managed efficiently and effectively.
To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made.
An applicant's suitability for employment with Health will also be assessed through a variety of pre-employment check processes, such as: Satisfactory completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check, and where relevant a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.
Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical (where required).
Providing evidence of qualifications.
Obtaining and maintaining a security clearance at the required level.
For this role applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, or hold a current security clearance at an appropriate level.

Remote working is possible and is negotiated with your manager on commencement.
Flexibility can be negotiated with your manager to balance your personal and professional needs with the needs of your role and business area.
This recruitment process is being used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions.
Non-ongoing positions will be offered on a specified term basis for an initial period of up to 12 months with the possibility of being extended (this will not exceed a total of 24 months in the same or similar role).
