We ensure the right people, with the right skills, are in the right roles to meet our department's goals. Our team works closely with business areas to provide guidance in key areas such as health and safety, workforce planning, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.The WHS Enterprise team that leads our overall safety strategy and ensures we have a strong safety management system in place works directly with our staff and stakeholders to implement this system and provide ongoing support on safety matters.This is where you play an important role.As an Assistant Director within the WHS Enterprise team, you will lead nationally Occupational Hygiene and Health projects to support the development of key elements within our safety management system. You will have the opportunity to identify and drive work programs that are led with an evidence-based approach.What you'll doAs the Assistant Director Occupational Hygiene & Health, you will:Lead and build capability within a small team, delivering occupational hygiene and health programs that align with WHS Strategy and broader departmental priorities.Provide high-quality, evidence-based advice on emerging WHS issues, while ensuring effective communication and relationship-building with key stakeholders.Design, implement, and monitor the Occupational Health and Hygiene Management Plan, coordinating health assessments, risk management initiatives, and the validation of control measures.Review and communicate findings from expert reports, collaborating with the WHS National Operations Section and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.Provide regular updates on health and hygiene initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective stakeholder engagement.What are we looking forKnowledge and experienceComprehensive understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice, and relevant Australian and International Standards.Proven application of WHS laws and standards in diverse workplaces with varying hazard profiles.Extensive experience in engaging with subject matter experts (SMEs) to address occupational hygiene and health issues and provide tailored, practical solutions.Strong background in hazard and risk management practices, with specialization in Occupational Hygiene and Health.Developed and implemented successful Occupational Hygiene and Health management programs.Minimum of five years' experience in a WHS leadership or management role.Preferred qualifications in health, science, occupational hygiene, or work health and safety.
