TEQSA may consider remote work arrangements.About the positionThe position sits in the IT and Business Solutions team, which provides strategic IT advice, IT governance, and IT operations and services. It reports to the Chief Information Officer, with a "dotted line" reporting arrangement to TEQSA's Chief Security Officer as part of whole of agency security oversight arrangements.The Assistant Director, IT Security is responsible for preventing and responding to cyber threats in an effective and efficient manner, and ensuring the integrity and reliability of TEQSA's systems, processes and frameworks. They will develop and maintain cyber security controls, manage cyber security projects, and contribute cyber security expertise and input to broader projects at the agency. They will also be responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and support to other members of the IT and Business Solutions Team, to ensure a collaborative and coordinated approach to cyber security.The key duties of the position include:Providing practical and technically sound advice on cyber security plans, strategies and controls, to support the ongoing improvement of TEQSA's approach to cyber security.Assessing cyber security risks in TEQSA's systems, programs and applications, and working with the IT and Business Solutions Team (and where relevant, TEQSA suppliers and other TEQSA staff) to develop and implement effective controls to address these risks.Monitoring systems and alerts for cyber security risks, threats, incidents and vulnerabilities, and leading responses to address these where they arise.Preparing advice and reports on security vulnerabilities, incidents, plans, and controls, including reports for the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the Department of Home Affairs, and TEQSA's Security Committee, Chief Security Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and Accountable Authority.Positively influencing TEQSA's security culture including developing and publishing security awareness material, providing relevant input on other agency policies and procedures, and developing and delivering security awareness training.Building and sustaining productive and influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to facilitate cooperation, ensure high quality support and services are delivered, and future needs addressed.About youAre you passionate about technology and cyber security?Are you a strategic thinker with a drive for innovation and collaboration?Do you want to work in a challenging, dynamic, and rewarding environment that is mission-focused?Minimum RequirementsRelevant qualifications or certifications in IT security, such as the Diploma in Government (Security), Certified IT Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Security Control (CRISC), and/or Infosec Registered Assessor Program (IRAP).A background in IT, and/or systems' maintenance and support would complement the skills and experience required for the role.The successful applicant must:be an Australian citizencomplete a National Police Check satisfactorilybe able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1 status, supported by TEQSA.Failure to satisfy any of the above conditions may result in the withdrawal of an offer of employment or termination of employment.NotesThis recruitment process is being used to fill an ongoing vacancy.A merit pool of suitable applicants will be created from this process and may be used to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies as they arise.
