About the Role
Business Law WA Pty Limited, is an incorporated legal practice owned by the Chamber of Commerce Western Australia (CCIWA), committed to providing practical, strategic and proactive legal advice to businesses across WA.
The role will have you working within our Commercial Law unit, reporting to the Legal Director, to assist in growing our commercial legal practice and build on the current services provided to our existing and expanding client base. You will provide expert commercial law services to businesses and develop strong professional relationships with clients whilst mentoring our junior lawyers.
This is a full-time, permanent position that will be based in the Perth CBD office. Commencement of this role will begin from 6 January 2025.
Key responsibilities include:

Handling complex issues and providing practical solutions to our various clients Achieve various financial targets Continuously maintain an active client base and enhance the pipeline Actively participating in business development activities including regularly attending networking functions and preparation of high-quality presentations or articles to existing and prospective clients Support, coach, and mentor junior team members in technical matters while fostering a supportive and respectful team environment Collaborating with co-workers across various CCIWA Business Units, in particular our International Trade team and the Construction Services team Demonstrating commitment to a safety focused culture and promotion of a safe workplace
About you
We are looking for an experienced commercial lawyer looking to grow your career toward a leadership role to help grow our commercial legal practice. The right candidate will possess the ability to handle complex issues, provide practical solutions and have a collaborative mindset. Above all, you possess a strong commercial acumen and the belief in supporting WA businesses.
You will have:
Tertiary qualification in Law and 5+ years post admission experience Strong knowledge of commercial and corporate transactions, with demonstrated experience across areas including:business and trust structuring; business sales and purchases; Corporations Law and Australian Consumer Law; strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills, and; advising on general legal compliance, Corporations Act, Privacy Act and other regulatory matters Experience in the preparation and interpretation of contractual documentation and advice Ability to accurately interpret legislation, regulation, and rules Previous experience supervising and reviewing work completed by junior lawyers Drive, energy and a desire to develop the practice Genuine leadership skills A hands-on approach as client focused practitioner An ability to understand clients' commercial needs and provide practical solutions Ability to work autonomously with a strong work ethic Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge Advanced communication skills, with a proven ability to form strong networks at all levels and build client bases Current practicing certificate Current Drivers Licence Current National Police Clearance
