There are currently two (2) permanent and one (1) fixed term position available for immediate filling for up to a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Please note that the DPC will close between 23 December 2024 and 1 January 2025.

The Aboriginal Engagement and Community Policy division consists of three directorates.
The Aboriginal Engagement directorate focuses on driving systemic change across Government to improve the economic prosperity and wellbeing of Aboriginal people and communities in Western Australia.
The Community Policy unit provides support to the Premier and Cabinet to achieve their economic, social and wellbeing objectives by leading and coordinating cross-government policy development and implementation advice on social policy matters, with a particular focus on tackling long-term issues.
The Native Title Unit provides policy direction, operational support and strategic coordination for whole-of-Government native title matters, including responses to native title claims, the negotiation of native title settlements, and the implementation of comprehensive agreements.
The unit also leads the development of statewide native title policy and engagement with the native title sector.
About the Roles The Assistant Director (Closing the Gap Coordination, Aboriginal Engagement) is responsible for the high-level coordination of WA's commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
The role requires a strategic approach with an awareness of Federal-State relations.
This is a permanent role.
The Assistant Director (Statewide Policy and Coordination, Aboriginal Engagement) provides high-level policy support, strategic advice, and undertakes complex research and analysis in relation to the development, coordination, implementation, and review of Government policies from a cross-portfolio perspective.

The Assistant Director (Community Policy) works across government to coordinate policy and programs of work, and to provide strategic advice and assurance to government.
This is a fixed-term opportunity for up to 12 months.
To be successful in these roles you will be a strategic thinker that can influence and drive complex high-quality, evidence-based policy outcomes.
You will have an awareness of the diversity of Aboriginal people and ways of working.
You will draw on your extensive professional experience and use your exceptional written and verbal communication skills to establish understanding and achieve results.
As a highly experienced practitioner, you will also mentor and readily share your knowledge and experience leading high-performing teams.
