About the Role The Department of Veterans' Affairs, Financial Operations Directorate is looking for an Assistant Director, Financial Systems to lead, manage and provide technical advice on Financial Management Information Systems and will be an integral part of a team implementing a new Financial Management Information Systems, Technology One in 2025.
Key Duties Project manage the design and implementation of new Financial Management Information System.Management of Technology One and Expense8 systems, including system configuration changes, user access maintenance, help desk inquiries, train new system users and system testing.Coding and running adhoc SQL queries to generate data extracts for QoNs, data analysis, and audit inquiries and develop dashboards and reports for the senior leadership.Manage the data migration process & master data tidy-up & management.Lead, supervise and develop a small team.Provide expertise and technical knowledge in Financial Systems.Manage the ongoing development, implementation, system performance and quality assurance of the financial management systems and processes used.Build rapport and maintain internal and external relationships, respond to enquiries, provide assistance and factual advice in a timely manner.Manage prioritisation of own workloads and those of team, ensuring work activities are completed to agreed timeframes and standard, undertake quality assurance reviews of information and work, and ensuring quality customer service and advice.Preparation and approval of end of month processes.Our ideal applicants will have proven experience in Financial Management Information Systems Administration, with strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail. You will be responsive in high pressure and changing environments and have the ability to work independently and apply strategic thinking for decision making. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be innovative, have a continuous improvement mindset and be able to implement changes.
