About our team DS Executive | Data & Economic Analysis Centre | Data Services | Business Development and Partnerships The Data and Economic Analysis Centre - DEAC - is a young and dynamic division within the Department of Home Affairs.

We work alongside our colleagues in the department to analyse, transform and use data to deliver better outcomes for the Australian public.
We are dedicated to innovation and transformation, using data science, automation and artificial intelligence to achieve faster and more effective solutions.
The Data Business Development and Partnerships team (BDP) is a new and exciting function in DEAC.
BDP's purpose is to help shape a more strategic relationship with domains across the Department and Australian Border Force, and ensure DEAC is providing the right data products, services and advice to meet departmental and broader community outcomes.
As an Assistant Director in BDP, you will become a "data business partner" for domains across the ABF and Department (such as Immigration, Cyber and Infrastructure Security, National Security and Corporate Services).
You will engage with Senior Executives to understand the domain's strategic and operational objectives, and their data related needs and challenges.
You will then use your knowledge of DEAC's services and expertise to identify new opportunities to support domains scale their impact using data, analytics and AI.
You will also identify ways to improve relationships and ensure DEAC is delivering a customer and community focused service.

Duties and responsibilities Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of DEAC services and expertise Build positive and enduring relationships with senior executive level officers in assigned domains Lead ongoing engagement with domain areas across the Department and Australian Border Force to understand business priorities, data-related challenges, and emerging needs Identify short and long term data project opportunities and solutions to support strategic, operational and policy objectives of domain areas Ensure DEAC projects align with the strategic priorities of the Department as a whole, and contribute to better public outcomes Identify opportunities to improve DEAC's service offering based on customer feedback Engage with other agencies to support knowledge sharing and collaboration Actively promote DEAC products and services across the Department to build awareness and demand.
Additional information While an understanding of data, analytics and AI is advantageous, it isn't essential.

Eligibility To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:   ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
